Determination of Subsidy

Families benefit from understanding how the HCV program works, their unit selection options, and the variables that affect the amount the family will be required to contribute towards their total housing costs.  

The determination of the family’s share of total housing costs and the agencies’ housing assistance payment (HAP) is a multiple-step process. Housing Specialists at the agency undergo intensive training with more than 30 hours of coursework, case studies and testing to understand how to calculate Rent.  In this Section we will explain the concept of how subsidy is determined without going into the hours of details. We will cover:
