Moving within the HCV Program

As previously mentioned, with the HCV Program, when a family wishes to move, the subsidy moves with them!

1.  Families must obtain approval from the PHA to move within the HCV Program.
2.  Families can choose stay within the PHAs jurisdiction, or if eligible, can exercise their right to move under portability.
3.  When a family moves into a new unit, the same lease-up process occurs to approve unit.

What is Portability?
Portability is the process through which the family can transfer or “port” their rental subsidy when they move to a location outside of the jurisdiction of the PHA that first gave them the voucher.
